A wooden bridge has been constructed across the Tamor River to provide transport services to all the villages within Phattanglung Rural Municipality of Taplejung.
Due to a lack of budget to build a concrete bridge, the rural municipality built a wooden bridge.
The rural municipality has constructed two wooden bridges over the Tamor River to allow vehicles to operate.
According to the rural municipality, five motorable bridges have been constructed and maintained in the small river that reaches the municipal area from the headquarters, Fungling.
Paktanglung Rural Municipality has allocated a budget of Rs 10 lakh for temporary construction and maintenance of wooden bridges in the current financial year. Kathe Bridge has been constructed on the Tamor River from the allocated
budget and there is a plan to repair other bridges. Paktanglung is geographically difficult.
This village is divided on both sides of the Tamor River. Ward No. 1 Sava Din, Ward No. 2 Khezenim, Ward No. 4 Ikhabu and Ward No. 6 Lelep are on the right side of Tamor River. Similarly, Ward No.
3 Lingkhim Ward No. 5 Tapethok and Ward No. 6 Sekathum and other villages of Lelep are on the left bank of the Tamor River.
To move from one village to another, you have to cross the river Tamor. Now almost all the wards are connected by road network.
The rural municipality has constructed a temporary wooden motorable bridge on the Tamor River for the residents who are facing problems due to the lack of a motorable bridge even though the village is connected by a road network.
Yagya Prasad Limbu, Ward President of Paktanglung Rural Municipality-1, said that after the construction of the bridge, the transport service has reached every village.
Earlier, the locals were forced to make a dangerous journey across the Tamor River due to the lack of a concrete motorable bridge.
Until the construction of the concrete motorable bridge, the rural municipality has been delivering vehicles to villages by constructing a temporary Kathe motorable bridge for the past six years.
Limbu said that bridges will be constructed in other places as needed.
